I finally found some time to do some birding since I got back from WY. Spent a
few hours at Horicon Marsh early this afternoon. As expected for this time of
the day it was rather quiet but did manage to find 8 shorebird species: 20
Black-necked Stilts, Killdeer, 3 Greater and about 50 Lesser Yellowlegs, a
Baird's Sandpiper, about 30 Least Sandpipers, 1 LB and 2 SB Dowitchers. Other
usual species were seen including a Trumpeter Swan family by the historic sign
on the north side of 49 (2 a. and 5 c.). Best shorebird spots are the east
pond (by the pump house, although water is quite low), south side of 49 beyond
the sign and the red boulder pond on the tour.
