Finally found the time to look at the Eurasian Collared-Dove nest here in St. Nazianz. It had been in use for about 3 weeks now. It is located in a Crimson Maple tree right near the edge of a residential street. The nest seems to be poorly made from straw. I very much wonder if they obtained the straw from my landscaping work. My house is only a few blocks away and the doves are here daily. One of the doves was sitting on the nest - with the distinctive pattern of the undertail showing well. A short while later, when talking with the home owner, we saw both doves on the electric wire across the street. I then looked again at the nest - and, of all things, saw a Robin standing in it! This would be the first confirmed nesting of the Eurasian Collared-Dove in Manitowoc County. -- Bob Domagalski, St. Nazianz, Manitowoc County #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
