Good Morning, I saw a black-headed, black-billed, black legged gull this morning at Doctor's Park. I had a very good look at it as it flew close overhead and to the south of me, so I am quite confident that the legs were black. It was slightly smaller than the ring-billed gulls chasing it. The bill was definitely black, somewhat long with a slight downturn at the end. I did not see any white at all on the head, it was fully black as well. As i look through the books, it seems as though the only black-headed, black-billed, black-legged gull is a Sabine's gull, but this was too large for that and I didn't notice any yellow on the bill, which was also too short probably It had black wing-tips, I did not notice much white on them. I believe it was probably a 1st or maybe 2nd year Laughing Gull do to its size and it appears that they can have black bills/legs as well. My question would be, would a Laughing Gull have a fully black head with black bill and legs? If any of the gull experts on the list would let me know what they think, that would be great. Thanks! Also, a yellow-bellied flycatcher was in the park with numerous red-eyed vireo, house wren and lots of blue jays (at least 40). i did not come across the red-necked grebe that was seen further north at the Audubon. By the way, the gull was seen at the south end of Doctor's Park as you get to the houses (and the dead deer carcass).
