About 7:30 this morning I drove through the east end of the Lake Wissota Industrial Park across from the hospital in Chippewa Falls and heard Dickcissels over the noise of my diesel engine. I saw two and two Grasshopper Sparrows. Also present were Eastern Meadowlarks and Red-winged Blackbirds. Often seen in this area are Horned Larks and less often kestrels, which I saw earlier today on the east end of the Chippewa County Riverview Reserve, a half mile to the southeast. Bobolinks are often found in the industrial park, but not this morning. Rory Cameron Chippewa Falls, Chippewa County "We come and go, but the land is always here. And the people who love it and understand it are the people who own it?for a little while."
