Being laid up with post back surgery and having problems with my back since Feb has limited my bird outings this spring so far. Glad to see so many of you getting good results from your recent post. Especially the shorebird activity. Back in early April when I was checking the local osprey nest I observed an over protective crow defending his nest area. A Ring-billed Bull flew over the river and was going above the trees on the east shore when the crow shot up like a bullet right at it. I had my camera in had and captured the sequence. (From quite a distance) What surprised me was how far the crow chased the gull. Well over a quarter mile up river before heading back to his woods. In the 5th frame the crow is actually upside down under the gull clawing at it. Here is a link to the 7 mages I selected to show the incident. http://picasaweb.google.com/Readyworks2/CrowVsRBGull?pli=1&gsessionid=9damZv0zHbAI84zo_Nr5NA# Reminded me of the Jaegerfest activity at WIs Pt in fall. RE: Osprey in S. Wis. Most nest I'm aware of are active with hens sitting on eggs right now. Good migration to all. (I have a total of 4 warbler species this year to date) ;-( Pat Ready Dane Co. #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
