Ethan Gyllenhall and I had an adult type California Gull in Sheboygan
yesterday (Friday 14 July). We spotted it from the youth sailing club
adjacent to the boat launch. It sat on the closest breakwall at the harbor
mouth for over an hour and seemed very complacent. My impression is that
it's summering here and should be findable with a little effort.
Other highlights here were 69 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (yes, six. nine!),
2 Glaucous Gulls (1st and 2nd summer) and a Franklin's Gull (2nd summer).
We left Sheboygan with 8 gull species (excluding Little Gull despite 200+
Bonaparte's loafing around).
