Hundreds of Monarchs and black wing butterflies with/tan tips were washed ashore at the high water mark on the Lake Michigan beach this morning. The wind is strong from the east. About 2 dozen of the blacks winged insects were still alive but had sandy wings and legs tangled in algea. With help from another beachcomber we took those still alive to the edge of the woods, cleaned away the algae and released them in the grasses. A few recovered on the walk and flew away. Most of the Monarchs were goners. David Fox Point WI #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
