I birded Waukesha, Milwaukee, and Ozaukee counties today. Good day overall, with 67 species, including the following: Cackling Goose - at least 2 with 1000+ Canada Geese at pond on south side of Ryan Road in Franklin, west of S. Franklin Drive. Lesser Scaup - at least 1 with 2500+ Greater Scaup on Lake Michigan in Cudahy (behind The Landing condo complex) Harlequin Duck - Bradford Beach bird continues Long-tailed Duck - several at Harrington Beach State Park Hooded Merganser - 1 at South Milwaukee Yacht Club Horned Grebe - 1 at The Landing condos in Cudahy; 1 at South Shore Yacht Club Thayer's Gull - 1 at McKinley Marina N. Saw-whet Owl - 1 calling pre-dawn at Stute Springs, S. Kettle Moraine Snowy Owl - 1 from Texas Ave. overlook, along breakwall north of gap Short-eared Owl - 1 at dusk at Jay and Six Mile Roads northwest of Belgium (made it a six-owl day, as Barred, Screech, and Great-horned were heard pre-dawn). Northern Shrike - 1 at Harrington Beach State Park Red Crossbill - 2 along Scuppernong Springs trail White-winged Crossbill - 8 along Road ZZ in S. Kettle Moraine (just north of Emma Carlin trailhead) Common Redpoll - several groups in S.
