Both of these birds are still here as of noon today. The lake conditions are changing daily so it is hard to predict where the birds will be tomorrow. The inner harbor is frozen over now so the large raft (300-400) of goldeneye, merganser and scaup moved to open waters off North Point and that is where the Barrow's Goldeneye is now. The Purple Sandpiper is holding on even as the ice shelf grows thicker and deeper. Today the rock ledges just offshore the North Point parking lot are completely ice covered but the Purple still seems to be finding edibles at the water's edge.
