My first bird of the year was a Tufted Titmouse, followed almost immediately by a Purple Finch, both being scrutinized by our indoor kitty, Eddie, as they fed on the peanut feeder and safflower feeder right outside an upstairs window. American Goldfinch that I tried to turn into a Tufted Titmouse due to the low light level and the brisk wind that was giving the bird a tuft! Reality set in after about a second. Nothing uncommon but better than a House Sparrow. Good luck to anyone braving the conditions today.
