I have 1200 B Cisco APs. Lots of em. I've mostly had roaming issues using the IBM utility on T41/T42. I use Windows. I have many flavors of wireless cards ( desktops as well as laptops and wireless tablets, etc) and it's nice to keep it constant. Cisco AP work great as long as you keep up with the firmware upgrades. I've been though many in the last 2 years. I'm in the middle of setting up Cisco Aironet 1200 G APs to be accessed by IBM T41/T42 thinkpads with Cisco B and Intel Gl WiFi cards respectively. I wish to use the IBM software I think it will help our non technical laptop users transition into a WiFi environment easier. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks for any info you can provide. Best to use Windows But if you have Cisco cards you'll need the ACU for updating the firmware and it provides great diagnostics. If it is an XP Pro machine, I would suggest using XP's built in wireless config utility, instead of a vendor supplied one. Otherwise, give the vendor a call and see if they have a service based utility, or instructions for how to run the existing utility as a service...
