Sorry, let me be a little more clear.  If you login to a Windows XP
machine locally, and open the computer management snap-in and connect to
a server remotely (even an NT server), you can work with several files
and connections at once.

That's what I use, and it works perfectly.  Actually, if you log into a
Windows XP machine remotely, you can highlight (by holding down shift or
ctrl) many instances at the same time and kill the connections.  On 2000
it still works nice, but you can only work with one instance at a time.
