You can theoretically run upto 400Gb (ish from memory) on an external USB unint, we've just purchased a couple of 250Gb units, have you checked the specification of the external USB device you've got the HDD in ? -----Original Message----- From: Sorin Srbu [mailto:Sorin.Srbu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 20 October 2004 14:20 To: Windows2000 Mailing List Subject: [windows2000] Using hard drives larger than 200GB with USB2 in XP Hi all, I just installed a new 200G hd in an external case connected over usb2 to winxp sp2 and only 128G can be seen. Tried same usb-box on my portable, and same thing happens there. The portable also runs xp sp2. I also tried looking for a possible bios-fix on both Aopens site (the mobo is an AK79D-400VN) and Compaqs (the portable is an Evo N610c) with no success. Would anybody know if this 128G limit is inherent on the usb2-hardware side or if it's windows? The new hd is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7, BTW. Thx.
