If you still see the process, the program is still running. Many programs like to think they're ultra-important and feel that they must sit there bogarting your memory (paged or whatever - I don't care) so they load faster the next time and make themselves look better. WTF do I want with a "viewer" that takes up as much memory as the entire NT operating system used to use? Perhaps the program you're using has this superiority complex as well.
