True, but you will need a third-party product to recover the file(s), and
you will need to take the server offline as soon as possible. Since the
file is marked as deleted, the file pointers may be overwritten and/or the
once allocated blocks on the disk may be reused.

well...I got something here....

the file is NOT erased....
that space on the drive is allocated in the OS as FREE space...until that
space is needed...

You CAN use programs to look at ALL the data on a drive and find it if it's
not overwritten yet...but...dream on...

This is advanced file/data recovery methods that COULD possibly recover
something like that but 99.999% chance that your goodies are gone by
now...about the first reboot...:P

The file does not go anywhere.... It is simply delete... You will need to
restore the file off of a backup.

Hi All

I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to:

If I have a file up on a share drive (Windows 2000 server) and I delete the
file, where does it go? I checked the recycle bin on the server, and it's
not there, and I checked the recycle bin on the local workstation, and the
file does not appear there either. Can someone point me in the right
direction?

Thank you in advance for your advice

Russell
