I disagree. In a RAID 1 setup your max throughput is the speed of a single drive. In RAID 5, it will almost always be higher is you have even 3 drives, because of the striping across all three. When you account for the overhead of writing the parity info, you still get slightly higher throughput than a RAID 1 setup.
