[windows2000] Opening wordfiles from macs in windows??

Hi all,
Lately I've been having problems opening wordfiles made with
macintosh, with my wordprocessor in win2k. I use Office2k with all
patches installed, and supposedly the others (macusers) have
something similar too (office version that is).
However I still can't open those pesky little mac-files... I recall
this being possible before (say some six months ago or so). Has
there been a new ms-office release for mac that doesn't produce
good wordfiles or what??
Can somebody help pls?
