More asinine than Microsoft Bob?  I don't know.   

 

The stamps idea is a bad idea that doesn't stand a chance.  However if it
did, discussion lists would just move back to "news feeds" rather than
email.  IM would pick up a lot of the rest. And just like telemarketers on
the phone, junk fax, and spam, we will be fighting off the unwanted advances
there also.    

 

Odd thought... If a telemarketer sends a junk fax spam message to my Voice
Over IP  fax machine just how many laws would he/she break?

I think it is the most asinine idea Bill Gates has ever had.  It would
virtually eliminate free discussion lists like this one because no one would
spend money to post to a discussion list. Knowledge transfer would suffer
greatly.
