Checked, it's set to "never" spin down.

I was thinking so too. The 2ry ide-port on the mobo may be twitchy,
however the cdrom seems to be fine.

Are there still (bios-)limits on how big a drive may be if it's
connected on the 2ry ide-port? I know this was an issue a few years
back.

"Full price". About 2000 SEK (approx 150 USD)
