no, they don't do a client only version. They use to do a host only version, but I don't think you can get even that now. The best thing about this is, the MD wants to run a critical part of our UK financial system, on a PC in the Australia office (where he is based). With all but one of the financial people based in the UK needing access to this system. Although we have the 'proper' infrastructure in the UK to run this system, and have worldwide access to the systems though Citrix (including OZ), he wants to run this on a low end PC with PC Anywhere. I have strongly voiced my feelings on this, as has the UK director, and the company accountant (also based in the UK) but to no avail. So it looks like, at least in the short term, we in the UK will be dependant on one PC running PC Anywhere in Australia. Ideal....not. -----Original Message----- From: Sullivan, Glenn [mailto:GSullivan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 10 September 2003 12:11 To: 'windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [windows2000] Re: OT: Installing PC Anywhere on WXP Pro.... Can't you just install the pcAnywhere client? I haven't used it for years, but I think that used to be an option... I need to use the remote part of PCAnywhere on the PC to connect to a PC on the other side of the world running PC Anywhere host. I won't be using the host part on the PC this end. There's an idea though...If the other PC (the host) is a Windows XP PC I could use Remote Assistance instead. Is this approach, though the internet a recommended solution? -----Original Message----- From: Matt Bron [mailto:w2klist@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 10 September 2003 11:54 To: Windows 2K List Subject: [windows2000] Re: OT: Installing PC Anywhere on WXP Pro.... Inbuilt Remote Assistance no good for you? But to answer your question, I think 9.2 is compatible with W2K but I'm not so sure about XP - if it's a "must have" then personally I'd be sure to go for a version that I *know* is compatible - you know how fussy XP can be :) Regards, Matt Bron ********************************************************** To Unsubscribe, set digest or vacation mode or view archives use the below link. http://thethin.net/win2000list.cfm ********************************************************** To Unsubscribe, set digest or vacation mode or view archives use the below link. http://thethin.net/win2000list.cfm ********************************************************** To Unsubscribe, set digest or vacation mode or view archives use the below link. http://thethin.net/win2000list.cfm ********************************************************** To Unsubscribe, set digest or vacation mode or view archives use the below link. http://thethin.net/win2000list.cfm
