I think SET LANGUAGE only works within a query or a session, not as a server
default. Keep the suggestions coming though, I'm not an MSSQL expert either.

I had a horrible feeling that would be neccessary. Did you have to do a
clean install or did you reinstall and retain your databases?

<Sigh> AS one who's been here before, I believe your option is: reinstall
SQL. Absurd, I know, but it takes it's language install from when the
install happens; it copies eg UK files at that point. I struggled with this
one for ages, as I couldn't believe that it was the case, but unless MS have
addressed this in the last couple of years, then you're stuffed.
Unless I missed something, in which case please kill me, because, golly, it
was painful!

I've just found out that the default language on one of my MSSQL 2000 boxes
is wrong. It was left as US (as was the server it lives on) when it was
installed and an application vendor is claiming this as the reason for his
software giving trouble. Can anyone point me towards a resource with
step-by-step instructions for changing the system default language to UK
English? I've changed the Win2K server settings but MSSQL still thinks it's
american.
