You just need to use NIC's that support being bonded together. Any of the
Intel NIC's (and subsequently Compaq) support Cisco's Fast Etherchannel,
active/standby, and MAC based load balancing (I think, never used it
though).

I too have win2k w/sp3 and two nics...
Can I add a third nic to the server and load balance the local network
through two of them leaving the other for the NET connection?
And not just if it's possible but maybe some details or a good link or
two...

Thank you in advance.

I have two NICs in several win2k servers without problems, all are teamed
(intel NICs teamed with INTEL Proset) Work dynamically to load manage the
connections, no worries all running fine. The MS note may be server/nic
specific?

Cheers

Is there a problem with dual nic's & Windows 2000? One of my tech guys
referred to some MS tech notes and disabled the 2nd nic's on all of our HP
dual nic LPR2000's.

I have a few of the IBM XSeries 330 models in my rack and they have been =
great so far. The have a nice cabling scheme where you can daisy chain =
them together for keyboard, mouse, and video. Kind of like having a =
built in KVM switch. They also have dual nics capable of being teamed =
together for added throughput. You have to have a Cisco switch capable =
of FEC to get the best performance though.

I'm looking into some low-end rackmountable servers for my company.
I've checked out Dell, IBM, and HP. Does anyone have any
recommendations or favorites?

Thanks,
