Use SUS server from microsoft. It's for free.

or use hfnetchkplt. It's free for up to 50 workstations...

Subject: [windows2000] Microsoft Update

I have a problem. I own Microsoft products.

:-)

My problem is the MS comes out with their updates like the one I see
today, and I'm suppose to implement it to every desktop ASAP and the
only way to do that is manually go to every station and do it. Problem
is I have 3 branch offices and servers I have to manage and going to
every desktop tends to mean that my updates stay a good 3 months behind.
Due to recent viruses that I've been attacked by, I now have to update
as soon as the stupid patch comes out. How can I stream line this
process. I know I could use SMS but that is expensive. Is there any
other way of getting all my machines up to date by pushing out the
update? I use Norton Antivirus 9 and it pushes out it's client install
to all my desktops which is really sweet. That kind of functionality
would be a big help. I just need a good cheap solution.
