Here's a list of how much RAM the various Windows versions and editions support
(as of Nov 2004):
Windows NT 4.0: 4 GB
Windows 2000 Professional: 4 GB
Windows 2000 Standard Server: 4 GB
Windows 2000 Advanced Server: 8GB
Windows 2000 Datacenter Server: 32GB
Windows XP Professional: 4 GB
Windows Server 2003 Web Edition: 2 GB
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition: 4 GB
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition: 32 GB
Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition: 64 GB
So I guess I am assuming that you are running a non-enterprise version of
either Win2K or Win2K3.

I've just taken delivery of a couple of quad-xeon machines with 8GB each, to be
used as VMWare GSX hosts. Unfortunately, only 4GB appears to be available. Is
this because a single 32 bit CPU can only access 4GB? And is my other 4GB going
to waste or can it be used by other CPUs in the system?
Sorry for the newbie questions - this much processing grunt is new to me ;-)
