[windows2000] Re: Installing RIPrep-ed image

Q319111 claims to address this issue, BUT DOESN'T WORK --
the Videoprt.sys file we have is the latest: that of
Windows XP Service Pack 1 (29-Aug-02, Ver. 5.1.2600.1106),
but the installation process still stops responding at
the "Setup is starting Windows screen".

The "workaround" suggested in the Q article of physically
replacing the Video Card on each computer while installing
via RIS does indeed not sound like an acceptable solution.

Has anybody found a way to solve this?

Note: This is ALSO a problem with Windows 2000 Pro and certain video
cards.

Thank you so much in advance!

Alfonso

Subject: [windows2000] Installing RIPrep-ed image

When installing a RIPrep (WinXP) image everything goes ok at first: the
computer can connect to the RIS server, user can select image, GUID is
recognized, and setup starts: Windows setup inspects hardware and copies
a bunch of files. AND THEN when it says "Setup is starting Windows". it
stays there indefinitely. nothing happens.

Anyone encountered this?

Thank you!

Alfonso
