[windows2000] Re: Expanding the GPO...

Ok, another question...

I am now trying to get logon scripts to run via the GPO, rather than the =
user account as they are now...

I have added a logon.bat (plus kix exe and dlls) to :
SYSVOL\sysvol\domainname.com\Policies\{SidNoofdomain}\USER\Scripts\Logon,=
   and
SYSVOL\sysvol\domainname.com\scripts (where are were when setup on =
the user accounts)

I have then setup a policy on the domain that just runs "logon.bat" =
(User Config/Windows Settings/Scripts (logon/logoff)/Logon).

No attempt is made to run the script when a user logs on.

What have I done wrong?

Thanks for any help,

Steve

User Configuration->Windows Settings->Internet Explorer
Maintenance->URLs->Important URLs

As to the "Show Policies Only" Option, take a look at Q228723 - ADM File =
Is
Loaded But Certain Policies Are Not Displayed:

Hope this helps,

I can't find any poilcy within the GPO to set the IE homepage, are you =
=3D
saying that it is in there? If so, where?

Can you use the Internet Explorer Maintenance sections of GPO instead?

That's what they're there for...

Thanks for that...

I am now having problems finding an adm for setting the search and home =
=3D
=3D3D
pages for IE5.5

I have got the ieak.adm files that contains the registry setting to do =
=3D
=3D3D
this, but when I add the template to the GPO I get the folders in the =
=3D
=3D3D
Tree but nothing on the Policy side. I have tried writing my own adm =
=3D
=3D3D
for just the search and home page but the same thing happens. Any =3D3D
ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

Yes you can... simply right click on the "Administrative Templates" =
=3D3D
folder
in the GPO and choose "Add/Remove Templates."

HTH!

Is there a way to expand the GPO to include, for example, Microsoft =3D
=3D3D3D
Office entries. With NT4 it was easy to just add the .adm files into =
=3D
=3D3D
=3D3D3D
the policy editor, or write my own adm files. Is there a similar thing =
=3D
=3D3D
=3D3D3D
for GPO?

If not, how do you go about changing windows/applications options that =
=3D
=3D3D
=3D3D3D
aren't in the GPO as standard?

Thanks,

Steve
