Dear Joe,

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried this and it appears it will work for
my situation. However, I will need to do a little testing! Thanks again!

Best,

Dan Cook

Have you looked at the latest Service Pack?

Subject: [windows2000] Disabling or removing IE 6 via Group Policy or

other for Windows XP or 2000 Professional...

Dear Windows 2000 Freelists.org,

Hello again! Thanks for the help from a few days back! It made a

difference. I have another challenge listed below:

=20

We would like to setup a bare bone Windows 2000 Professional or Windows

XP Professional configuration for a lab that will be used for a specific

test for students. We plan on creating a very simple image including

only MS Word 2002. One critical criteria is that students must not be be

able to access the Internet via Internet Explorer 6. Unfortunatley, we

cannot just "unplug" the machines because students will need to print

the test to a network printer once they finish. We plan on using Group

Policy to limit access to My Network Places, etc... I guess my questions

are listed below:

=20

1. Does there exist a method to either remove or diable IE 6 from

Windows XP Prof or Windows 2000 Pro via a registry hack or via Group

Policy?

=20

I guess I could use Group Policy to hide the IE and My Computer icons

from the desktop, remove Programs from the Start Menu, and just place

Shortcuts on the desktop to to get to the one program needed but I am

wondering if there is another way. All comments and suggestions are most

welcome. Thanks in advance. Take care.

All the best,
