| We're going to be upgrading our database sometime next year. My two | options from the vendor are postgresql and oracle. I need to make a | recommendation about which we should go with. Oracle is obviously way | more expensive, but our business _is_ our database. Can anyone give me | some opinions one way or the other and why?
1) Current number of users 50 (including remotes), expected to grow to several hundred over the next few years 2) Data is mostly accounts containing data about student borrowers and notes from our staff. Both reads and writes are frequent. 3) Operating system will most likely be Redhat for the PostgreSQL and Mandrake or win2k for the Oracle. 4) Organization is extremely sensitive to data loss
