[windows2000] Database comparison

We're going to be upgrading our database sometime next year.  My two
options from the vendor are postgresql and oracle.  I need to make a
recommendation about which we should go with.  Oracle is obviously way
more expensive, but our business _is_ our database.  Can anyone give me
some opinions one way or the other and why?
