In the US a billion is a thousand million. In the UK a billion is a million
million. It's the only thing we have that's bigger than the yankee
equivalent so how about cutting us a little slack here ;-)

In short, no it's not(by the American or French system anyways). Now for
the long answer, a million is 10^6 which is a thousand thousands, correct so

far. A billion is 10^9 which is a thousand million, not a million million
which is 10^12. A trillion is 10^12 which is a thousand billion, not a
billion billion which is 10^18 (a very large number called a Quintillion)
However, wierdly enough, this answer is correct, in the English or German
system. In their system everything is a multiple of 10^6 For a good
comparison see:

However, all of this is irrelevant because RAM is sized using the metric
system not the standard(otherwise known as English method even though it's
not used by the English anymore) So an English Terabyte and an American
Terabyte are the same size, but be careful, because some manufacturers use a

metric Terabyte which is 1,000,000,000,000 while others use a computer style

Terabyte which is 1,099,511,627,776 (based on powers of 2).
