Switches belong in network closets, and hubs belong on cars:)That's the 
difference.

Hubs and switches work the same with respect to crossover cables and uplink 
ports. End stations get straight through, hub/switch get crossover. An uplink 
port is just a hard wired cross over.

Stop that.  That will just further confuse me.  If that's true, my
understanding of the difference between a hub and a switching being only
that a switch will not bring everything down to the lowest device speed
is a lie!  ;]
