Another thing, if that is so. How do I rectify this problem and how can I
help my friend who faces this same problem?

What are you doing when you get asked to insert the disk? It sounds like you
could be traversing the local media and have moved across an entry for a
removable drive. Could there be a reference to a removable drive in a play
list? I'm just thinking of events that could trigger Winamp or Windows to go
looking for a disk that isn't there.
