volume hot keys not working in winamp

I did do a complete install of winamp 5.05 as suggested before, and I've
seen no time-out errors so it worked there. But I can't get the arrow keys
or the alt control comma, period, etc. to raise or lower the volume. It
just stays where it is. I did ask someone if scripts are needed for Jaws
5.10, since this was a clean install and perhaps scripts were removed with
my former install. But I was told they weren't needed and I can't find them
anywhere. Hope you can help.
