unusual problem with winamp and jaws volume

I realize that the volume for winamp works independently from Jaws, which is
one reason I really enjoy using Winamp because I can do several things at
once on my computer. But I was visiting a friend this weekend and she had
2.95 and I noticed that when I turned her Winamp volume down her Jaws volume
also went down. When I installed 5.03 she had the same problem. I made
sure classic skins were installed; I eliminated the visualization and winamp
agent. Is there something else we can check in preferences so that when she
lowers or raises her winamp volume the screenreader's volume will remain the
same?
