Hi Brad. Well, you can try the newest version of winamp, but I am having my
doubts on it working with the streaming windows media format. Microsoft is
pretty tight on their formats, and they only like the idea of everyone using
WMP to play them. There is a work around, sometimes, but it doesn't always
work. I had a good friend of mine figure out how to do it, and send me the
information on how he did it. Basically, here is how it goes. You start the
stream, and let windows media player open it. Go to the file menu, and
export it as a file, possibly by using the "save as" option. Close the
stream, and go to the file. Use the open with option with the applications
button, and select note pad. All of the information for the stream should be
in there. Look for the line with ref=mms....
this is the line you want. Copy from the mms right on down to the slash at
the end of the IP address. Close the note pad, and open winamp. Press ctrl l
for the open location dialogue. Paste the IP address in there. Go to the
front of the address, and replace the mms with http, and put .wma at the
end, making sure to include the period. Hit enter, and it should open the
stream. Now, I am gonna place stress on the word should, because it have
tried it on other streams with the .asf extention, and it didn't work for
me. Try it out, and good luck!
Sincerely,
Robert Robinson
