Hi Marty. Ok, i'll tell you exactly how I do it so you can see. Remember
Marty, just because Jonathan said something in his tutorial, it doesn't
mean that it's always true for every instance.
How I do it is I use one instance of Winamp with the SQR cross fader as my
output plugin using the radio preset.
I do not have the shoutcast plugin as the second level dsp plugin in the
sqr crossfader configuration screens, so if you wanna do it like me, don't
even worry about that. Instead, go into your Shoutcast plugin and make
sure that the advanced controls are enabled. It really is ok to do
this. But remember if you do this, then you must have the what you hear
option turned on in the recording controls portion of the windows volume
control. If you don't have the what you hear option then of course this
method isn't going to work. But for what you want this will be fine. For
compression I use Audiostocker.
For the type of music I play, i've found that having medium compression
sounds the best and the max eq isset tothe medium setting as well.
Basically, you want everything going to your sound card to go out over the
air, so if you want nice cross fades andgood compression, that's a good way
to go. I am sure other broadcasters can add to this or correct me if I'm
wrong. but remember, there are many different ways to do this, so you just
have to find the way that best works for yo and the one that is easiest for
your system.
