dont get stereo sound

I have downloaded some files in mp3 format and am able to hear both
speakers. When I downloaded some files in the .ogg format, I only hear one
speaker. I contacted the list where I got the .ogg files and the person said
he picks up both speakers with no problem. Any ideas?
