when after you enter to preferences, press the home button go to the top of
the treeview, you will here "level 0, winamp pro, 1 of 4", then arrow-down
once, you will get "general preferences open, eleven item", now only you tab
over. press tab until general preferences "check for new versions of winamp
at start up" checkbox, check, press spacebar to uncheck it.
note for window-eyes user, I have just make a test with window-eyes version
5.0 and the result is, no problem. you can use the same way as jaws user.

I don't get the reminder checkbox either with Jaws. When I go into general
preferences it only talks about plug-ins; there's no box there to uncheck
for "check for updates." I got so tired of the message bugging me that I
just went ahead and put in 5.2, which means I won't be able to listen to
stations until the interface is fixed; but the message was getting on my
nerves and I couldn't find where to get rid of the message.
