Winaamp Slow Start

Just got back here after changing systems a couple times. Good to be back.
Just lately, when I enter on an mp3 file, winamp takes at least a full half
minute to start playing the file. It also takes a very long time when starting
it from the desktop icon. I am running Windows XP Pro, JAWS 11, Winamp 5.33.
Any ideas? Thanks.
