Well, when I go to http://www.winamp.com/ I do see statements like "There's more coming soon" and "We are working hard to reenergize Winamp!" I also see

The best is yet to come
More info soon

Leave us your email & we will tell you
everything about Winamp’s future very soon"

I personally haven't subscribed to any updates, but when I go to their Twitter feed at https://twitter.com/winamp I do see some activity including a beta as recently as September. I'm not sure I'd declare this vaporware quite yet.

The term "vaporware" is already well-established:

Hi Group,

I have seen a huge number of inquiries on this and other lists about
the best accessible version of Winamp. The real question is when
will Winamp be updated and redeveloped? In 2013 near the end of the
year, the AOL people decided to dump Winamp. Shortly thereafter, a
Dutch company bought the rights to it (or so we are told.) If you go
to the Winamp home page ever since then, you will see a positive and
bold assertion to the effect that 'coming soon' a new an revitalized
Winamp will be available.

It has been 2 years since all this has happened. Years ago,
particularly in the electronic field, companies would release a
brochure on a new and exciting product. It would have all sorts of
bells and whistles and the words 'pending' and 'coming soon' would be
involved. A number of times, months and years would go bye and
nothing would happen. People in the old days used to refer to this
as 'vapor equipment.' I wonder if the new and impending release of
Winamp (now 2 years in coming) is just a version of 'vapor equipment'
which we should call 'vapor software?'

What does anyone else think about this?
