Thanks very much. So now we know. I must confess that the reason I
tend to start by asking technical questions rather than going to Google
is that, if the person who writes the explanation does this for her/his
living, I probably won't understand the answer. As it is, this is
pretty understandable in general, so I'll brave the technocrats in
future. My fear is that, if for instance I search for information on
CDs, I might get an extract from the Red Book, written by a digital
engineer. People on a list sort of know who they're speaking to, and
modify their answers accordingly.
