Hi Peter,

As long as the path and file name are intact--just as if you were typing them back in the old DOS days such as: c:\folder\sub folder 1\sub folder 2\file name.mp3, it should work.

Sounds interesting.

What if the files are in sub folders within a folder?

Is there any spacing between the file paths in the list?

Subject: Creating Playlists For Winamp

Hi Group,

I have seen a number of posts on the Winamp and other lists requesting
information about how to create a playlist that will be usable in
Winamp. I have used the following method and it has never failed.

1. Using a text editor and making sure the format you save it in is
pure text, copy and paste in the paths and file names of the songs you
wish to include in the playlist.
2. Save the file as pure text with the extension m3u.

That's really all there is to it. It may bound complex, but here are a
few tips based on common sense deductions.

1. You should place all the files in the same folder so as to simplify
the process. This is quite easy--even if you are using a CD with read
only attribues assuming that you always keep all the songs from one
album or disc in the same folder--which most people do.
2. There are several free path and file name utilities that you can
install to make the process of retrieving path and file name for pasting
into the text file. The one I use is Path copy copy whose home page is
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__pathcopycopy.codeplex.com_&d=AAICAw&c=7MSSWy9Bs2yocjNQzurxOQ&r=g9gJ23lQ899I9VU5l0a3LQ&m=2AGMFa_FDr3n2L-49bZoNaNkcKEFLllxotXezv51C7I&s=C3elktDYzy-EI4UUorZ8iQ_9N3pITIEsH7gbWmIsOyU&e=
 .

That's really all there is to it. Don't spend money on a fancy program
to create playlists, and even Winamp itself is a bit cumbersome to use
for creating a playlist. Just follow the few simple steps above and you
won't regret it.
