Nothing at all against the previous ways shared of creating playlists for those of you who enjoy putting together playlists. I just thought I would share yet another way of doing the very same thing. There are very simple ways of creating playlist files (.M3U, .PLS, etc.) within Winamp alone (without having to install anything extra) and here are the directions below: 1. Open up Winamp. 2. Within the Winamp Playlist Editor page we'll call it (Alt+E) which is where you have all of your chosen tracks. To choose individual tracks, just highlight/select whatever tracks on your machine or other drives that you are wanting to add to the playlist, use your applications key (Shift+F10) 3. Then press E for Enqueue in Winamp. Do that with whatever tracks, albums, folders that have anything you are wanting to add to the playlist that you are interested in creating. 4. When finished adding all you desire to add, go to the Winamp Playlist Editor page like before (probably only needing to Control+Tab to it if focus is not already there) You can arrow up and down to check out what you've placed within the playlist use the keystroke Control+S to save the playlist you've put together. Name and save it wherever you prefer. It can be moved anywhere on the machine, it's just the files within this playlist you've put together can't be moved for them to continue to work with the playlist. I have used the following method and it has never failed. 1. Using a text editor and making sure the format you save it in is pure text, copy and paste in the paths and file names of the songs you wish to include in the playlist. 2. Save the file as pure text with the extension m3u. That's really all there is to it. It may bound complex, but here are a few tips based on common sense deductions. 1. You should place all the files in the same folder so as to simplify the process. This is quite easy--even if you are using a CD with read only attribues assuming that you always keep all the songs from one album or disc in the same folder--which most people do. 2. There are several free path and file name utilities that you can install to make the process of retrieving path and file name for pasting into the text file. The one I use is Path copy copy whose home page is http://pathcopycopy.codeplex.com/. That's really all there is to it. Don't spend money on a fancy program to create playlists, and even Winamp itself is a bit cumbersome to use for creating a playlist. Just follow the few simple steps above and you won't regret it. -- Signature: They ask me if I'm Happy, I say "yes." They ask me "How happy are you?"
