I had this problem aftewr installing Active Directory on an ICS server. This forum replied that AD doesn't work to well with ICS. Maybe try using NAT. Also, ICS and DNS may screw up each other. Check your event viewer for errors in DNS. -----Original Message----- From: win2kforum-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:win2kforum-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Siliconvalleyking Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2001 3:43 AM To: win2kforum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [win2kforum] Startup Problem at (Preparing Network COnnections) Hi I have win2k Server. I am having 128K ISDN connection, one LAN connection & another cable connection Initially I had only ISDN & LAN connection at that time the startup speed of server was OK it took around 7-8 miniutes to get Ctrl+Alt+Del Dialogue BoX. But after I installed new 100 MBPS ethernet card for cable connection startup time has increased very much. It takes around 15-25 minutes for my server to get up & to show Ctrl+Alt+Del Dialogue BoX. Most time is taken in DISPLAYING PREPARING NETWORK CONNECTIONS. I CHANGED THREE ETHERNET CARDS THINKING THAT CARD MAY BE FAULTY TO COMMUNICATE TO WIN2K BUT STILL THE PROBLEM IS THERE. ALL THREE CARDS WERE OF DIFFERENT COMPANIES. MY ISDN CONNECTION USES DYNAMIC IP, LAN CONNECTION USES 192.168.0.1 AS PROVIDED BY ICS & CABLE CONNECTION USES STATIC IP. I ALSO DISABLED SEVERAL SERVICES INCLUDING ICS, FAX, IAS ETC TO DECREASE THE STARTUP TIME BUT STILL THINGS ARE SAME. Network Config is as following 1. Realtek 1839 100MBPS Adapter for LAN connections - USES ICS 2. D-Link ISDN 128DMI Internal ISDN Adapter (ICS Configured on 2 or 3 to be used on LAN Connection i.e. 1) 3. D-Link DFE-538TX 10/100 Adapter USES Static IP & Connected to Cable Modem (ICS Configured on 2 or 3 to be used on LAN Connection i.e. 1) Can any one help me out to solve the problem. I will be very much thankful. Siliconvalleyking. http://www.yahoo.com/siliconvalleyking _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
