Check in the hard drive controller dialog in system device manager(right click my computer, select properties, hardware, device amanger.) Make sure DMA is enabled. Reboot, see if that helps. (or if DMA is enabled, disable it) -----Original Message----- From: win2kforum-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:win2kforum-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Michiel Neethling Sent: Tue, April 03, 2001 4:29 PM To: Forum Windows 2000; Forum Computers Subject: [win2kforum] CD-ROM / DVD SSSSLLLLOOOWWW! Hi I had the following setup Creative CDRW 4224E Samsung 8x DVD 40Gig Harddrive (IBM, ATA 100) Asus A7V motherboard (This motherboard has 2 IDe channels for ATA 100 and also the normal 2 IDE channels. You are able to connect 8 devices (2devices x 4 cannels) Windows 2000 Pro The hard drive was connected to the primary ATA 100 IDE channel. The DVD was connected to the Normal (ATA66??) Secondary IDE channel as Master. The CDR was connected to the Normal (ATA66??) Primary IDE channel as Master. Everything worked A1!! I changed my motherboard to a MSI 6330 (K7T Pro 2-A) It only has an ATA100 controller onboard. My connections changed as follows: Hard drive as Master on Primary with 80 wire Cable DVD as Slave on Primary with 40 wire cable CDR as Master on Secondary with 40 wire cable Now my CDR and DVD is very slow. Some programs failed to install. (eg Delphi 5 Pro complained about slow network due to high traffic. Only problem is that I am not connected to a network, it is a local drive. 1) What could be the problem? 2) More importantly: What could be a solution?
