this could be discussed at comp.os.plan9 newsgroup; it is fed into the
mailing list and most developers are on it.

well, tom duff (of porter-duff) did most of the graphics work on plan9; you
may want to find out from him whether he made or wanted to make the kind of
changes you suggest, and what kind of an api he had in mind for that. going
to plan9 people with something tom duff already thought about/worked on is
likely to go farther. he is td@xxxxxxxxx, in case you are not sure where
to find him.
