Job Title:   Web Site Producer, American RadioWorks
Status:      Full time, Exempt
Location:    St. Paul, MN

Job Description:

Minnesota Public Radio has an opening for an experienced Web Producer for
American RadioWorks, the national documentary unit of Minnesota Public

The Web Producer will work collaboratively with radio producers, reporters
and new media staff. Develop, gather and organize content. Design and code
sites in HTML. Search for and select appropriate photography. Market sites
to NPR and NPR member stations.

·Design and produce documentary sites including multimedia and interactive

·Collect information from identified content sources for posting to the Web

·Scan images and prepare for Web use

·Proofread and correct copy

·Check work for HTML accuracy and browser compatibility

·Create custom Web Sites consistent with ARW design and technological

·Manage multi-media news resources (eg encode audio, photography, graphics,
etc.), acquire materials, track costs and copyrights.

·Work with content providers including reporters and producers to manage
flow of content

·Participate as a member of ARW's editorial team

·Create, maintain and moderate an interactive space including bulletin board
and commentaries section.


·        Fluent in HTML

·        Solid understanding and competency in standard web production tools
such as HomeSite and Photoshop.

·        Ability to work under heavy deadline pressure

·        Solid oral and written communication skills

·        Solid Web design sensibility

·        Strong commitment to journalism and interest in online journalism

·        Quick learner with excellent writing skills

·        Interest in public affairs

·        Passion for excellence, and enthusiasm for a challenge

·        Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

·        A self-starter who willingly takes direction when required

·        Proven knowledge and experience in building and maintaining complex
Web sites.

·        Creativity, energy, and willingness to foster new media activities
within a predominantly broadcast environment

American RadioWorks is the national documentary unit of Minnesota Public
Radio. Based in St. Paul, Minnesota, and with staff journalists also in San
Francisco, CA, Washington, D.C., and Durham, NC, ARW creates documentaries,
series projects, and investigative reports for the public radio system and
the Internet.

ARW's work strives to combine the most effective elements of investigative
reporting, storytelling, drama, and audience interaction, while covering
national and international stories of public importance.  ARW's programming

·        Public affairs and investigative documentaries on major social and
economic issues

·        Documentaries that explore significant social and cultural subjects
through stories with strong narrative threads

·        "Living History," an ongoing effort to document the 20th century
American experience through the lives of those who witnessed it.
