So, obviously, we can also implement such driver from the AVStream driver
completely.
Absolutely, but just because a thing CAN be done does not mean that it SHOULD
be done. USBAudio.sys works, and keeps getting better with each release.
Surely it already does 90% of what the original poster wanted. Given that, it
is a waste of resources to throw out all of that proven and working code and
start over. Instead, leverage what already exists, and add your customizations
as a filter driver or as a ksproxy plugin.
