We (Sound Devices) worked with Jim and it was very easy to obtain and distribute the QFE. (Other than the fact that you are supposed to install the QFE without displaying to the customer but the QFE shows a dialog during the install.) -----Original Message----- From: wdmaudiodev-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wdmaudiodev-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Martin Puryear Sent: Monday, December 09, 2002 11:15 PM To: wdmaudiodev@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [wdmaudiodev] Re: White Papers now available Note that a vendor can obtain permission to ship QFEs. However, there are a = significant number of documented problems with WDM *audio* in Windows = 98SE. There is a QFE available to resolve many of these issues. However, it's = not exactly straightforward for end users to obtain QFEs. Because of = this, we decided some time ago to only support WDM audio on Me, 2000, = and XP. So far, that's worked out fine. This is further complicated by the fact that the MS knowledge base has = been reorganized and I can't even track down the link to the QFE = anymore; it used to be article #242937, but that doesn't exist anymore. BTW, I've gotten a lot out of your books; I've got both the Windows 95 = and WDM ones on my shelf. They're both invaluable.
