Certainly, you can run WDM drivers on 98SE. However, there are a significant
number of documented problems with WDM *audio* in Windows 98SE.

There is a QFE available to resolve many of these issues. However, it's not
exactly straightforward for end users to obtain QFEs. Because of this, we
decided
some time ago to only support WDM audio on Me, 2000, and XP. So far, that's
worked
out fine.

This is further complicated by the fact that the MS knowledge base has been
reorganized and I can't even track down the link to the QFE anymore; it used to
be
article #242937, but that doesn't exist anymore.

BTW, I've gotten a lot out of your books; I've got both the Windows 95 and WDM
ones
on my shelf. They're both invaluable.

Matt
